Perry is a traditional drink from Normandy that is characterized by its lightness and elegance.
Its manufacturing process is partly similar to that of cider, but unlike apples, pears do not keep well and require to be pressed very quickly after being picked. Pear trees are large trees with a lifespan of up to three hundred years.
They do not produce a real harvest until after about thirty years. The most frequently used varieties are "Plant de Blanc", "Muscadet", "Tricotin", "Avenelle" and "Poire de grise".
Thenatural foaming of perry in the bottle is at the origin of its fine bubbles. Supported by a nice acidity, perry is a refreshing and festive drink.
Perry is drunk chilled in a flute. It can be enjoyed as an aperitif, but is also ideal with seafood, salads, steamed fish, fresh goat's cheese or sorbet.
