The Art of Blending is the Core Craft of Maison Drouin

To guarantee excellence, the finest Calvados from Normandy are often the result of complex blends of Calvados from different years. These blends are crafted by the Cellar Master, the guardian of the Maison’s style. The Cellar Master signs each eau-de-vie much like a “nose” does in perfumery.

Each blend enhances the diverse expressions of Calvados according to its stage of barrel aging.

Several dozen Calvados can thus be mixed in a single cuvée to achieve a precise character and the desired balance.

Produced by double distillation of cider and not aged in barrels, La Blanche retains all the fresh fruit aromas and surprises with its softness and finesse.

Christian Drouin AOC Calvados

The Christian Drouin Sélection AOC Calvados is a fresh and light Calvados made from ciders distilled in winter to preserve the first aromas of crisp apples. Distilled in a column still, the Sélection reveals the best fragrances of a fine Calvados.

Christian Drouin Pays d’Auge Calvados

The Christian Drouin Pays d’Auge Réserve reveals more complex fruit aromas and the first vanilla notes typical of Pays d’Auge Calvados aged over 3 years.

The Christian Drouin Pays d’Auge V.S.O.P unfolds orchard flavors, warm oak notes, and juicy stone fruit aromas. On the palate, this Calvados softens to become broad and supple.

The Christian Drouin Pays d’Auge X.O is an old Calvados with a deep amber color, partially aged in former port, cognac, and sherry casks. This Calvados is structured by silky, powerful tannins that give body to a smooth and elegant eau-de-vie.

The Christian Drouin Pays d’Auge Hors d’Âge is a historic blend from the house. Aged over 18 years, it is blended at a slightly higher alcohol level (42% alc. vol) and offers power and aromatic persistence on the palate.
