After exploring the islands of Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Martinique, this time it was in old Foursquare barrels that the latest calvados from the Drouin house were produced for the 8th edition of the Christian Drouin Experimental range.
Foursquare is an iconic, family-owned distillery in Barbados, producing world-renowned rums with a rich aromatic expression.
A 17-year-old Pays d'Auge Calvados was placed in 8 French oak barrels that had previously contained rums from the Foursquare distillery.
After 17 months of maturation in these barrels, the calvados was removed and placed in freshly re-toasted barrels for a further 3 months before being bottled.
"Christian Drouin's experimental Foursquare Angels is one of the most intense and richest expressions we have produced in this range. The base was a powerful 17-year-old Calvados. The rum casks delivered notes of brown sugar and vanilla, giving the Calvados exceptional complexity and depth. However, upon release from the casks, I felt that an additional three months in freshly re-toasted casks would further enhance the roundness and structure of this exotic marriage, creating a perfect balance between these two worlds."
On the nose, this Calvados awakens the senses with captivating aromas of ripe, roasted apples, delicate vanilla, creamy caramel, and brown sugar. On the palate, it reveals its richness with smooth, harmonious flavors of tropical fruits, dark chocolate, and sweet spices. The finish is long and powerful, opening with notes of pine nuts and almonds.

J'aime le calvados et me suis adressé à cette noble maison ,après en avoir bu
dans les airs, j'ai essayé le "très pomme" attiré par le nom et le "très" mais 53°
j'ai donc acquis un VSOP à 40° et là ,la douceur la rondeur la finesse et..la pomme ,excellent j'avais quelques amis autour de la dive bouteille elle a eu très très chaud (en respectant la loi) Que des louanges ,ps site,commande,paiement,emballage ,le tout au top merci
