Christian Drouin Experimental Series – 9th Edition: Arran Collaboration

For the 9th edition of Christian Drouin’s Experimental range, we chose to turn to Scotland, the historic home of single malts, and specifically to the Arran distillery.

Maison Drouin and Arran have known each other for many years and have been exchanging casks for nearly 20 years. We selected a 13-year-old Calvados Pays d’Auge—still marked by fresh fruitiness and beautiful roundness—which we matured in six former French oak casks that previously held Arran whiskies. After 6 months of maturation in these casks, the Calvados was bottled in a limited edition of 1,992 bottles.

Tasting Notes:
On the nose, this Calvados is delicate, expressing the full spectrum of apple aromas—from ripe apple to butter-poached apple. It then opens up to notes of malt, apricot, and pear.
The palate is refined, perfectly balanced between roundness and acidity.
The finish reveals notes of hazelnut and cereal grains.
